Stone Fox is one of the most heart melting stories I have ever read. Just the depth in these characters makes me want to read it again. John Reynolds Gardiner did an outstanding job creating these characters and adding everything that a good character needs. Most dog based books I read are sad but this one just lifted me up. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because of the depth of the characters but I wish there was more to it. It almost felt like an article rather than a story. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves dog books and just wants a good read in general. @Gasenic of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Stone Fox is a lovely story about a boy, Little Willie, who enters a dog sled race in hopes to save his grandfather’s farm. When I first read it over five years ago, I was not too found of the story and struggled to finish it; however, now I have a greater appreciation of historical fiction and flew through the book. Stone Fox has lovable and beautifully written characters and paints a realistic picture of what life was like in the beginning of the 1900’s in Wyoming. I quickly became fond of Little Willy, his grandfather, his dog Searchlight, and many of the other characters in this book (including, by the end, Stone Fox). In the end, I found myself rooting for Little Willy along side all the towns folk while he raced. Stone Fox is a delightful story and I look forward to rereading it in the future! @maroonmouse of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
