A great, and inclusive, guide to being a geek girl! The Fangirl's Guide to the Galaxy explores all those things that the fangirl may experience, including: conventions, cosplay, and the internet. Maggs' tips are genuinely helpful, especially to those new to a fandom; her words are encouraging to those that are shy and introverted. With interviews from famous community members to back her up, she makes it clear that you should be proud of who you are and what you love. Probably the most important things she discusses are fandom etiquette, and feminism. "Don't become a troll" she cautions, also here are myths about feminism that are not true; even for the seasoned geek girl, these are words of wisdom to learn from. There are some excellent resources in here regarding merchandise, popular blogs, and irl (in real life) get-togethers. In other words, pick this book up, aside from it potentially being the only guide to girl geekdom, it is very well thought out. Terms get explained, many fun fandoms are explored, but most importantly it is a dose of positive reinforcement, and it's funny too.
