Read this to explore a genre (romance) that I don't often read. Things I liked: the rural Colorado setting, the reversal of typical gender roles (a strong, heroic, action-orientated woman and a more introspective, emotionally motivated man), evolving romantic attraction, and a happy ending. Things I did not like: the glorification of traditional social mores such as success defined as type A professional ambition (ie being a doctor &/or lawyer), treatment (and judgment) of schizophrenic character (and that character's spouse), many side stories that either didn't really add to the plot or were dealt with in a brief and shallow manner (kidnapping/sexual assault of a young teen, prostitution). Overall it was a light, non-challenging, and slightly disappointing read.
