This movie is based on the novel by the same name, and follows a patient at a psychiatric ward by the name of McMurphy. McMurphy is a gambler with a love for testing other people’s limits and expectations. Whether or not he is genuinely insane is unknown, however, the patients around him are mentally ill for sure. He begins to enter a battle with the “Big Nurse” as he uncovers secrets about the hospital and the lives of the patients. McMurphy symbolizes questioning the status quo while also finding the humanity in everyone. The movie was not entirely to the book, yet it was an interesting interpretation nonetheless. I would rate this movie 4/5 stars and recommend it to fans of the original book. @THe_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
