Howey does a pretty good job of creating a universe with only vague ties to ours, an extrapolation of what the future could look like, but only if you squinted and turn your head in a certain way. Kudos for his ability to do that. However, the florid repetitious narrative of saying the same thing three times seems to be a byproduct of word counting to fill a quota. This work appears to be a compilation of short stories/novellas.

I thought there was ample character growth, and I loved the thought of flowing through sand. As I neared the end, I found myself wishing to learn more of what lies ahead for these characters. That, I think, may be high praise for any novelist.

Dystopian novel about a family surviving among two settlements where the constant encroachment of sand dictates how their lives unfurl. This novel has a good narrative and pace with okay character development. Worth reading if you are a fan of the genre.

I enjoyed the book, but the Overdrive version was not that great on my Android phone. A couple of chapters were impossible to access; I could read the first page, but when I tried to read the second page the system flipped to the end of the chapter. Checking out books on Kindle worked much better!

I loved Wool. That being said it was so hard to get into Sand. The characters just weren't developed enough to get in to. The world was a world I just couldn't wrap my head around and imagine as the story took place. I wanted to love this book to, but was disappointed.
