When her aunt gets into a car accident, Anise is forced to leave her friends and surfing behind to spend the summer in Nebraska to help care for her cousins. In doing so, she forms familial bonds and new friendships that challenge her feelings of abandonment by her mother. When Lincoln, a one-armed skater, dares her to swap her surfboard for a skateboard, Anise isn't one to shy away from a challenge.

i would DEFFINETLY recommend to ANYONE AT ALL but the ending is a bit too cut short for my liking but that doesn't change the fact that YOU SHOULD READ THIS AMAZING BOOK NOW!!! its really good and I've said it a lot of times too.

The perfect summer read of feeling out of place, but somehow still finding home.

The book overall was good. However, I just felt like the characters were very one dimensional. I didn't feel the connection between Lincoln and Anise at all, and we didn't really know much about any of the characters besides their names and a little background. There were also unresolved issues, like the post-card from Anise's mom, or what would happen with Lincoln and Anise.

A good read, but slightly disappointed.
