"Sloan Monroe can't catch a break. Two years after losing her fiance, her life consists of cemetery visits, unorthodox art projects, and drinking sessions with her best friend, Kristen. So when a dog dashes in front of her car and gets her a ticket for obstructing traffic, Sloan is at her wits' end. But after meeting the ridiculously attractive and charming owner of the trouble-making retriever, she begins to think that maybe her luck has finally started to turn around... When Jason Larsen -- a.k.a. Jaxon Waters, rock n' roll's newest prodigy -- turns on his phone after a two-week hiking trip in Australia, he's shocked to find out that his beloved dog Tucker escaped his babysitter and is being held hostage by a beautiful woman. As Jason and Sloan begin to fall for each other, past traumas and rising tensions prove that their seemingly perfect match may just go to the dogs"--

I loved this book!! A super fun & easy read. At first it all seemed a little too easy because everything was going as planned but the characters and plot are so well written that you just have to keep reading. Now I need to go back and read The Friend Zone....

I LOVED this book! The story is beautifully written, and the main characters are just great. I fell in love with Sloan and Jason (and mostly with Tucker).

You know when book two is SO much better than book one?! SO, SO much better?!?!? That said, I do think it is important to read Friend Zone because the context makes Happy Every After Playlist a more thoroughly realized story. There's much more depth, more heart, and more feeling. I really love this book. You know, in case it isn't clear?! VERY grateful for the recommendation!

Sloan Monroe has spent the last two years grieving for her fiance, Brandon, who was killed by a drunk driver while riding on a motorcycle. She hasn't removed any of his clothes or even the beer he had been drinking in the garage. Anniversaries and birthdays are torture as she spends most of them isolated or even drunk. One day when she is driving, she almost hits a dog and he ends up climbing inside the car through the sunroof. After weeks of trying, she finally makes contact with his owner, Jason, who is a musician performing in Australia. Sloan keeps the dog for Jason while he is away and they begin to get to know each other through texts and phone calls. Attraction begins to replace friendship, but Sloan is not sure that she can risk her heart again.

The Happy Ever After Playlist is the sequel to The Friend Zone, but it doesn't have quite the emotional impact even though there are some very heartwarming and heartbreaking scenes in the story. The playlist refers to songs listed at the beginning of each chapter that foreshadow the content. Although this is well-written and is apparently based on a true life relationship, there are a couple of episodes in the story that don't quite ring true. Overall, however, The Happy Ever After Playlist is a light, enjoyable read. 3 1/2 stars

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! I wasn't over the moon about Jimenez's first book but you can really see her growth from that one to this one. I loved the character development of Sloan (who we met in the last book) and I adored Jason. I also really loved the behind the scenes look of the music industry

The story was fast paced, hooked me from the start and didn't let go until I finished.

Tucker escapes from his neglectful dog sitter and jumps through the sun roof of Sloan's junker car. He rescues her as well as Jason/Jaxon who is on a vacation in New Zealand before launching a music tour in Australia.

Because Jason doesn't have cell phone coverage in New Zealand, he has no idea that his dog has gone missing until his plane lands in Australia. Sloan demands that he prove he loves Tucker. Sloan doesn't know Jason is rock star Jaxon Waters, and he doesn't know she's a gorgeous, talented artist.

They flirt via text and phone calls until he returns to the US to claim Tucker. The playlist theme might be lost on older readers, but the sobering account of the life of rock stars added depth to this rom-com.

Great Covid escape with lots of LOL zingers. This book is a sequel to The Friend Zone.
