Fall in love with this hilarious and heartwarming USA Today bestselling romantic comedy that LJ Shen calls "an absolute treat."
Kristen Peterson doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.
Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen -- especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he'd be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it's harder and harder to keep him at arm's length.
The Friend Zone will have you laughing one moment and grabbing for tissues the next as it tackles the realities of infertility and loss with wit, heart, and a lot of sass.
"Your next favorite romantic comedy... The Friend Zone is that rare beach read with tons of heart that will make you laugh and cry in equal parts." ---PopSugar
"Your next rom-com to obsess and cry over." -- - Cosmopolitan

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was funny and full of feeling. My only complaint is that it could have been about fifty pages shorter because there was a bit too much repetition. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it. I can't wait to read book two!

The main man in the story makes any girl wish all men are like that, in a sense. He was so kind and caring. The trauma that the lady went through just made their budding relationship just amazing.

Kristen Petersen needs help. Her carpenter that makes the doggie stairs for her small dog business has just quit, so when Kristen's best friend, Sloan and her fiance, Brandon suggest his best man, Josh, Kristen decides that he can do the job temporarily until she finds someone else. Kristen is starting to dread her boyfriend, Tyler's return from his two year deployment overseas, and as she and Josh spend more time together, they become closer. When Tyler tells Kristen that he has reenlisted, she can't hold back her feelings for Josh any longer. However, she realizes that as perfect as she and Josh seem for each other, he wants a big family and she can't have children. As tough as the decision is, she keeps Josh at arm's length, but he isn't one to give up easily.

The Friend Zone is almost like two books in one. A part of this story is a fluffy fun romantic comedy with likable characters and funny situations, but there is another part of this book that is heartbreaking. Josh and Kristen are charming, especially when they are together, but it is a little hard to be patient with Kristen's character when she refuses to tell Josh about her problem, and Josh is almost too perfect in his love for her. Nevertheless, it is a very enjoyable rom-com. The other part of this book deals with heavy issues of infertility and loss in realistic ways, making the characters seem true to life and adding an unexpected depth to the story. Overall, The Friend Zone is an extremely well written book with believable characters in realistic situations. Beware - have tissues handy.

I read this book to fulfill the goal to read a book a book with the same title as a movie or a tv show but is unrelated to it. Ive never heard of the tv show the friend zone, but it was one of the books that was recommended for the prompt by the popsugar challenge people. It was slow starting at first. there is some adult language and scenes, but its a really good story and i could identify with the main character a little too strongly. I did enjoy it.

This book did not know what it wanted to be. Rom-com? Women’s fiction? Soap opera? Imagine a game of dodge-ball where you’re the last player left on one side of the court and all the elite athletes are on the other side preparing to throw their balls at you at the same time. There is nowhere for you to go, but to cower and protect your head. That was me. I couldn’t grasp all that the author was throwing at me in a 300+ page book. What could have been a lovely women's fiction novel with wit and poignancy, ended up being overkill of both where it inevitably diminished the impact of it all.

I think Kristen was supposed to be funny with her snark and so-called sass, but it felt forced. The only true funny moments that I found in the story were the dog's personifying and crass t-shirts. Now, those were funny! As the story progressed, I also should have start feeling sympathetic to the heroine, but her continuous and exhausting back and forth with Josh started making me angry. Kristen was the queen of mixed messages and I didn't understand her excessive non-communication regarding her medical issues, except as a poorly planned plot device. It went completely against the character that the author was trying to convince me that she was.

In the end, this book had the potential to be a great story. Josh was a wonderful hero along with some great supporting characters. Sadly, my growing disinterest of Kristen's character and a disproportionate amount of drama weakened the story's credibility.

Fun, sexy, contemporary romance set in LA. I liked the alternating chapters (which I'm seeing so much these days!) and I found the dialogue believable and the chemistry scorching. I did appreciate the author venturing to include infertility into the story line. I have to say, though, I was a little disappointed with the ending, but overall, super fun and fast read.

Sassy modern rom-com about Kristen, a successful business woman with mild OCD problems, who meets an amazing man named Josh who, for various important reasons, she simply can't have a romantic relationship with. So Kristen tries really hard to keep super-hot Josh confined to the infamous frozen "Friend Zone." But Josh has something else in mind! I really enjoyed the electric chemistry between the two main characters.

Sexy, sassy, swoony: if you're looking for a new book boyfriend, meet Josh. He's talented with his hands (carpenter!), he's funny and kind, and he has amazing chemistry with Kristen. A hot book to warm you up on a cold day.

Definitely more than just a romantic story. It has two interesting main characters and more than a few emotional hills and valleys. It’s far from perfect but worth the journey.

I first heard about this book from the book devoted to the "50 book pledge," as a fellow group member wrote about it. Normally I am a murder mystery reader but I decided that this would be my step-out-of-the-box read. I am glad I picked it up. It was a read for your feelings. It was light and airy but the serious subjects laced in where done so in a flawless manner. The characters were pretty well rounded and dynamic. What really seals the deal is the unveiling of a surprise and Sloan's appearance. (readers will know which parts I mean). I really enjoyed it. It is a give and take though chapter wise. One is written in Kristen's point of view and the next in Josh's point of view. So if you have a hard time with that just a heads up. It is the perfect book to touch your heart while not being too too heavy. **Warning: has an underlying theme of infertility**
