Amy Lennox doesn't know quite what to expect when she and her mother leave Germany for Scotland, heading to Lennox House, her mother's childhood home on the island of Stormsay. Amy's grandmother insists that Amy must read while she resides at Lennox House -- but not in the usual way. Amy learns that she is a book jumper, able to leap into a story and interact with the world inside. As thrilling as her new power is, it also brings danger: someone is stealing from the books she visits, and that person may be after her life. Teaming up with fellow book jumper Will, Amy vows to get to the bottom of the thefts -- at whatever cost.

I liked the premise of this book better than I liked the execution. Amy starts out wanting to leave Germany because of some scandal at school. Eventually when the scandal is revealed, if it is indeed the scandal, it seems so trivial--not the scarring event I was expecting. This was my first disappointment. The pacing for the book was a bit slow and uneven in places, and it was a hard book to really get into.

Still I like the premise--isn't jumping into a story every reader's dream? Walking and talking with characters in your favorite stories, would give your books a whole new life. Still the book was slow to start, and while the book picks up towards the end, I felt that it could do with a more details at the end.

Have you ever wished that you could step into one of your favorite books and be a part of the story? In this book, Amy discovers that she comes from a long line of book jumpers who can step into stories and dedicate their lives to protecting literature. When someone starts stealing key ideas from stories like "The Wizard of Oz" and "Alice and Wonderland", Amy is determined to catch the thief! This was such a wonderful concept and it left me wishing I had a gift such as Amy's.

I enjoyed this. Loved the idea. She does leave it open enough that maybe there will be a follow up.
