This is a high-quality documentary about a fascinating man in human history who, for a time, had one of the coolest jobs on - and off - the planet.

A well produced biographical documentary about Cernan, an Apollo 17 astronaut, who is most famous for driving around the rover (the jeep) on the moon (it also had the TV camera attached to it so one can see the take-off of the lunar module as it goes to reattach to the command module orbiting the moon.) The film splices from the past to the present, from his days prior as a pilot to being a global celebrity, still giving talks and making appearances in his old age. Emphasis was given to the pursuit of his career and the consequent poor family life, resulting in divorce, but with remarriage, that too plagued and interfered with by pursuits.

Lots of information I never knew as I was born in 1985, but this DVD truly helped me to understand the heroism required to be an astronaut. I couldn't do it.
My only complaint is the way the documentry was put together, bouncing between the past & present.

Sorry coincidence that I borrowed the DVD the day Gene Cernan died. I certainly watched the movie with augmented respect and admiration.

A fascinating look at one of the great Apollo astronauts, who has a particular distinction in the lunar program.
