Maddie Fynn is a shy high school junior, cursed with an eerie intuitive ability: she sees a series of unique digits hovering above the foreheads of each person she encounters. Her earliest memories are marked by these numbers, but it takes her father's premature death for Maddie and her family to realize that these mysterious digits are actually death dates, and just like birthdays, everyone has one. Forced by her alcoholic mother to use her ability to make extra money, Maddie identifies the quickly approaching death date of one client's young son, but because her ability only allows her to see the when and not the how, she's unable to offer any more insight. When the boy goes missing on that exact date, law enforcement turns to Maddie. Soon, Maddie is entangled in a homicide investigation, and more young people disappear and are later found murdered. A suspect for the investigation, a target for the murderer, and attracting the attentions of a mysterious young admirer who may be connected to it all, Maddie's whole existence is about to be turned upside down. Can she right things before it's too late?

An awesome one-night read, with interesting characters and plot. Without going into spoilers though, I must say, the culprit was a real disappointment. There were many different options floating in my head, and it turned out to be the one I least expected, not because the author was good at hiding it, but because the author didn't put anything in there to suggest it(though the reason made sense). In the end though, it all came to together to an extent. I give this book a 9/10 and a "Would Strongly Recommend Reading" review.

This was a fast, fun read. Though the ability to see deathdates is crucial to the plot, it's not the main focus, and I like that. It's more of a serial murder mystery than it is a supernatural plot; the almost magical elements fade into the background as the suspense ramps up. Much in the same vein as Jennifer Lynn Barnes' THE NATURALS, I found myself flipping through pages to find out whodunnit.

Read it in one day (and part of the night). Enough said.

Engaging and interesting and a definite read!

This was a good book overall. The writing style was easy going and kept my interest. I was surprised to learn who the killer is at the end (i.e. it's not predictable-which is awesome). I liked the premise of seeing the deathdates-it was interesting and original.

Little bit of a spoiler but not major plot point...
The only thing I didn't really like is that at the end Maddie finds her soulmate and I'm all "she's 16" she hasn't had any time to like date anyone else or anything like that but I understand it's a book so she needs a love interest. Author gets major points in my book though for no love triangles or anything (hate this trope so much).

What I like about this book is that the author throughly thinks things through with this character. She centers the story around what could actually happen if a person had this power. She takes everything into account and doesn't make every other character just accept Maddie or her claims of innocence. It's not like other books where a person has this power and everyone is just fine with it and they use it to save the world or something.
The ending was pretty good. My only problem with it was that the Aiden thing seemed kind of glazed over.

Definitely a page turner!

Do you want to be able to tell when other people die? Well, in this novel, the protagonist Maddie can see the death date of everyone that she meets. Her power causes her more pain than joy, as a serial killer is out on the loose, and all signs point to her (because of her power). This book was…okay. I absolutely loved the concept of it, a girl who could tell when you die, I just felt that it needed something more. It has a bit of romance, but I felt that it could be developed a bit more throughout the book, and not just in the last chapter. The plot is very original and unpredictable. I couldn’t even predict who the real killer is until the last few chapters of the book. Overall, it is a fast and satisfying read. Rating 3.5/5
