Interesting story how sushi is prepared. Wonder if it is true life story?

Good story that illustrates the roadblocks on a Hispanic woman's journey to succeed in an environment that is predominantly male and Japanese. I enjoyed her arguments and determination. Some of her fusion sushi sounded interesting, too!

Good movie. Love the food, love the movie. By looking at the cover I thought to main character would be Indian. It would be even more interesting had it be an Indian cook making sushi.

I really enjoyed this film. In a very real manner, it does a great job of depicting the struggle many experience when trying to break out of the roles that societies still expect of certain individuals. It is a slower paced movie, but well worth watching.

This was a typical "for single mothers and minorities" flick. Boring and silly tale about an Hispanic woman facing all of the arch-typical barriers proclaimed by the feminist movement.

Well-written movie about American immigrants meeting on-the-job. I didn't see romantic chemistry between the two leads, however, so this lessened my assessment. I did enjoy watching Juana's journey and her determined fight to succeed in a non-traditional job and win stability for herself, her little girl, and aging dad.
