An incredibly bad film directed by the overrated Deepa Mehta. The film also contains overtly racist comments about white people- which are quite frankly disgusting. This junk was funded by Telefilm? Shame on you.
Per the comment below by ' Ghostserver ': apparently you can't complain about Indian gangsters making racist comments- what a ludicrous notion- of course you can and should complain against ignorance and intolerance- no matter who's saying it. Plus the movie really stinks- it's an abomination.

Really terrible movie- don't bother watching it.

Whoever said this was racist needs to stop whining and look at the country they live in: Canada is full of racism and usually white Canadians are the least open-minded, like so many people I grew up with. I'm white so I know and wasn't offended one bit. First Indo-Canadian gangster film with Sikh mobsters that I've ever seen. It's gotten a lot of bad reviews maybe because the director is famous for beautiful and humane stories. This is a story about gangsters and they are not nice people and yes they are racist. White characters in many movies have racist lines, but who complains about that? I felt the racism is totally honest and not out of place; it reflects the racism white Canadians have inflicted on the Indo-Canadian community as we do to all non-whites; and it makes only sense they would give back what they get. It's about time other voices were represented and heard. Check your intolerance at the door and if you enjoy violent gangster films then check it out. Also it's one of those rare movies that's filmed in Vancouver and it's supposed to take place in Vancouver as well, highlighting some of the local culture

This film was great. Beautifully filmed and acted. An action film with much depth. Mehta is brilliant as always.

Lots of action if the characters are what they are send them to fight ISIS. Sikh soldiers of the Indian army by nature are fearless warriors just like the the Nepalese Gurkha soldiers of the British and Indian armies.

Mehta's talents are far superior to this production. I forced myself to keep watching, hoping that it would improve...I would not recommend this film to anyone. I would not even give it half a star.

This one got the checkout due to the facts that it was about Indo-Canadian Sikh gangsters trying to take over the Vancouver drug-trade; it was made by the obviously talented Deepa Mehta; and it had fellow Canadian filmmaker Paul Gross starring in it. Amazing that it has been based on actual facts, that most people are completely unaware of. I don't think the budget has anything to do with quality; but for some reason this was only "meh". Japanese filmmakers have proven capable of recycling well-worn elements of this genre; even on low-budge, straight-to-video releases, to great effect; so I was a little sad to be underwhelmed by this. Apologies to my niece, who perplexingly insisted I wait until she rushed over to watch this with me. Her disappointment was greater, as she had apparently taken this to be about some pipsqueak white-Canadian singer from Ontario.

WOW - probably one of the worst films I've ever seen. I can't believe Mehta is behind this when she's done so much incredible work.

Script was so awkward, plot initially appeared intriguing but got confusing and odd. I had second hand embarrassment for almost the entire film. I gave it a shot because of Mehta, but this was sadly what you would expect from a low-budget Canadian film. This seemed less like a crazy cool crime movie and more like a lame Degrassi episode that was allowed to use the F-word for the first time. Do not waste your time.

Not one of her better movies. Found the characters to be too cliche and ending was too predictable.

Fairly interesting movie about the Indo-Canadian gangs in Vancouver area.
