An extraordinary Lucas Davenport thriller from #1 New York Times -bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize winner John Sandford.

After the events in Gathering Prey , Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation--no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend the governor is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff. "Should be fun!" he says, and it kind of is--until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor...and anyone who gets in the way.

Another very good 'prey' novel.

Very good. Lucas Davenport, retired from the Minnesota BCA, is recruited to investigate threats against a candidate in the runup to a presidential primary. Vietnam-era protest group seems to be at the core of the conspiracy. I particularly appreciated the even-handed approach to political differences: while obviously anti-bombing, Lucas/Sanford does not overtly express any political opinions.

"Extreme Prey" is okay. It is not definitely not up to the quality of earlier Sanford 'prey' novels. Making a couple rural Aunt Bees into Posse Comitatus murderers and assassins is a little far fetched.

I don't know. Maybe after reading so many Sanford books they start seeming a bit the same to me. That's probably not too surprising. Once an author hits on a successful formula you can understand them being reluctant to depart from it. This one struck me as a bit slower and none of the dialog had the "zing" to it some of the books have, particularly the Virgil Flowers ones.

I love Lucas! And I definitely want him on my side as opposed to against me...he makes a formidable enemy. I found the attention to detail and humour set this one above the rest and as usual, it made my weekend zing by at an alarming rate! Can't wait to see him -- in the White House maybe??

OMG I loved this book it was fast paced and damn if Lucas Davenport was not hilarious. He made me snicker amid all the rampage and yes I read this book in 2 nights with only about 20 minutes of nap time. This is for me the best of the Prey novels and I will read this again in the future.

This one was just OK for me. It moved pretty slow in the beginning. The dialogue was short and stilted in some places. It does get better towards the end.
