Set on the French Riviera in the summer of 1915, this lushly atmospheric drama tells the story of celebrated Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir and his son Jean, who returns home to convalesce after being wounded in World War I. When Andrě, a free-spirited, beautiful young red-head enters their lives, they are both smitten. The elder Renoir, in declining health at age 74 and tormented by the loss of his wife, is filled with a new, wholly unexpected energy as Andrě becomes his last muse and the wellspring of a remarkable rejuvenation. In the face of his father's fierce opposition, Jean too falls under Andrě's spell, and his transformation from a battle-weary son to a budding filmmaker, begins.
