From Swedish master Lukas Moodysson, We are the Best! revolves around three girls in 1980's Stockholm who decide to form a punk band -- despite not having any instruments and being told by everyone that punk is dead. Based on a graphic novel, We are the Best! is a paean to DIY culture and the power of rebellion.

Surprisingly, I liked this movie. Not a big fan of punk (though I lived through that period and had friends that were really into it), these 3 teenage actors really knew how to act. Yes, there was some inappropriate language and behavior but nothing staged or over the top like in American films. I really think what made this movie was the chemistry. How did the director get these girls to act like they had always been together?

this was a really great movie that would make an awesome tv show(HELLO MTV!!!)it was really low key and appeared to be videotaped rather than filmed. The music was mostly really good, but obscure because it was all Swedish; still I would buy the soundtrack. So the bottom line is: I'm 39+ and i did not find this movie juvenile at all. Give it a chance.

A quirky foreign film that just never got off the ground for me. I tried, but the characters never grabbed me and the music wasn't my style. Also the portrayed total lack of parental/adult authority over these kids did not seem realistic.

Utterly charming, exuberant, uplifting story of three girls forming a punk rock band in 1980s Stockholm, despite two of them having never played an instrument before. Directed by Lukas Moodyson, who did "Together," and based on a graphic novel by his wife Coco. One of the most delightful films of 2014. This should be a staple at Rock & Roll camps everywhere. Also check out "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains."
