From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle's masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time. SEAL Team 3 Chief Chris Kyle served four combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and elsewhere. For his bravery in battle, he was awarded two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation. Following his combat deployments, he became chief instructor for training Naval Special Warfare Sniper and Counter-Sniper teams, and he authored the Naval Special Warfare Sniper Doctrine. Today, he is president of Craft International, a worldclass leader in training and security. He lives with his family in Texas, where he devotes much of his spare time to helping disabled veterans.

A very interesting look at a Seal sniper in our armed forces. The heavy toll such a life can take on his family life, the strong bonds he makes with his fellow service men, plus the many horrors of war.
A lot of bad language seems to fit the conversational way the book is written .
The reader did a very good job of sounding like a Texan.

a true american hero. America needs more people like this who understand honor and humility. one real problem in this culture is a lack of shame and a lack of pride

I really enjoyed this book and have given it to my husband to listen on audiobook. Its sad to know how his life ended for all that he did for his fellow military as well as for our country! He now has me hooked and I'm looking forward to reading/listening to more accounts from military men on what they experienced over in Iraq.

This guy has had the most confirmed kills (witnessed and verified by another team member)as a sniper in Iraq during the war. He describes how he followed the rules of engagement with each one, except for the little boy who was sent to pick up an unused roadside bomb. The guy who was placing it when the author actually did kill him, was dead, and when they sent out a boy to retrieve it, he didn't kill the kid, hoping to get the adult who had sent him, He described how he would go up into a tall house and watch for armed men who were insurgents, before killing them, making sure they were placing IED's or doing other types of terrorist activity. The author loved his work.
