One of the sweetest little girl books ever written. If you want to avoid the snarky protagonist, the conflicts, fighting, talking back, slang that are ubiquitous in recent children's stories, you'll love Betsy-Tacy series. Still, the tales are true to life (and death) and there is much to hold child's attention. Another time, another era. If only...
