While walking the wings of a Tiger Moth plane in full flight should be enough excitement for most people, for Phryne Fisher, amateur detective and woman of mystery, it's merely the appetizer for greater thrills. For this 1920s glamorous detective flies even higher, handling a murder, a kidnapping and the usual array of beautiful young men with consummate ease - and all before it's time to adjourn to the Queenscliff Hotel for breakfast

My read of the week (quite literally), is this quick-read featuring the Honourable Phryne Fisher— flapper, socialite, and Lady Detective. We join the unflappable Phryne as she tries to prove a fellow pilot's innocence after he's arrested for murdering his father, while also solving a dark kidnapping case. A great read for fans of cozy crime, and anyone who enjoys a bit of 1920s glamour.

Loved the book as much as I love the TV series.

(The second book in the Phryne Fisher series)

The TV show is great and the books are great, each in different ways. I recommend seeing the videos first, then reading the books. One has a picture of the characters (and the clothes) from the TV. Then read the books for the added characters and a variant mystery puzzle. I happily read them a second (or third) time and laugh and laugh.

Phryne as wing-walker! I liked this book. Other comments say they like the PBS shows better, but this is the WHOLE story, not ground down to 60 mins. These stories contain fascinating historical data as well as a very wild tale of this seductive, wealthy fictional flapper.

I agree with kancruze. I liked the PBS shows better than this book.

Another fun Phryne Fisher romp, albeit not quite as engaging as the first. Still a series I intend to follow.

A pleasant romp if you're looking for something quick to read.
