New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman's transcendent series THE SANDMAN is often hailed as the definitive Vertigo title and one of the finest achievements in graphic storytelling. Gaiman created an unforgettable tale of the forces that exist beyond life and death by weaving ancient mythology, folklore and fairy tales with his own distinct narrative vision. A groundbreaking and award-winning epic that masterfully creates a modern myth of dark fantasy, the Sandman series tells the tale of Morpheus, the King of Dreams. As a being of infinite power, Morpheus has ruled over the realm of the Dreaming since the beginning of time. But now after a tragic fall, Morpheus is no more. In the touching and final chapter of this fantastical legend, friends, siblings, enemies and lovers gather to mourn and honor the fallen Lord. Realistically depicting the feelings of loss and despair associated with death, THE SANDMAN: THE WAKE is an emotional tale of remembrance and rebirth. In the last chapter of the SANDMAN saga, THE WAKE collects issues #70-75.

This is by far my least favorite volume in the series. Most volumes I'd give a solid 5 stars, this one was just boring. I didn't care for the drawing style and really missed Morpheus. I would consider this volume to be an epilogue to the series and maybe worth avoiding. Overall I'd still recommend reading the series.

Comic book at its best with wide ranging short stories.

This is what appears to be the last book in this wonderful series of stories.

I cried but that's really nothing new.

What a wonderful, and super creepy, journey.

Amazing series. Sad that it had to come to an end, but it is one of the best graphic novels! Highly recommend!

And the Angel Duma’s tear, crystalline and clear, filled the vision of each of the onlookers. Reflected in it, they saw mercy, and miracles, and the knowledge that everything that is, has a purpose, and that the purpose, somehow, included every one of them . . .

Old friend, in my mind only do I write you this letter. But it is a splendid letter, with perfect brushwork. Old hands do not shake or cramp when the letter is written on the air.
