An imaginative movie by Vincent Ward where a group of Middle Ages villagers must go on a quest to stop the Black Death from reaching their village and killing everyone. The quest takes them through time and space into the 20th century world where they navigate the dangers of a modern world they don't understand to reach the goal of their visionary quest. A very striking and beautiful film that I have not forgotten since I first saw in it in 1988. Starts off a little hard to understand with the villagers' medieval way of talking but hang in there as the movie takes off into a grand adventure.

This is well worth watching, and don't let the B&W at the start turn you off. Even the harsh accents are a sticking point at the start, but they soften or you get used to them as the movie goes on.

The story is wrapped around Griffin, but immerse yourself with Conner and some of the other actors, even the small rolls played by the women, and you'll find yourself joining their journey through time.

I'm rating this film appropriate for almost any age, though it does have a harsh tone, but without any overt sex, no cursing, and the violence is appropriate for the film. I can honestly say it is one of the most interesting films I've seen in a long time.

I saw this movie when it first came out in 1988. It is a wonderful fantasy. Very imaginative. I enjoyed it so much, I watched it 3 times. I am so happy to see it available as I have been looking for it for years.
