It may be more famous now than any time in its 1,300-year history as the setting of Downton Abbey, but England's Highclere Castle has its own stories to tell. In its heyday, Highclere was the social epicenter of Edwardian England. See how all the inhabitants of Highclere lived, from the aristocrats above to the army of servants toiling 'below stairs'. Also find out from the current inhabitants, Lord and Lady Carnarvon, what life in a fairytale castle is like today.

A must for Downton Abbey fans.

I came to this, not as someone who has seen Downton Abbey, but just to see what is involved in running a castle. Hearing the history of some of the former family members was interesting, the use of the castle during the war and again, how it is now managed as a business was fascinating. A nice quiet piece to watch.

BBC has done it again very well done documentary. This movie was interesting, informative, and worse seeing!! I recommend this movie for all to see. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.

I've never watched Downton Abbey, so this documentary has a different feel for me than it would for someone else who watches the series and would automatically be associating every room and corridor with a moment in the show. Instead, as an outsider, I found myself more interested in the history of the place and the famous family who live there in real life, the various aspects of life in and around the place, and how the estate is run these days. The present Lord and Lady Carnarvon are very knowledgeable and personable, and the documentary kept me interested throughout.
