In her Introduction Aneela says: "In this book, I offer basic instructions for simple stitches, along with a generous selection of original embroidery patterns, which are also printed on transfer paper so you can easily iron them onto your fabric and stitch away." She goes on to say: "I've also included twelve projects - from sewing accessories like a pincushion and a needle case to whimsical but practical items like a hot water bottle cover - that you can embroider and sew."

I wasn't crazy about the projects, but I did like the patterns. The problem is that they are super small, probably to conserve space. There are about twenty to a page in the back of the book so you'd have to copy them and enlarge them. That's a trend I really hate, having to photocopy and enlarge every pattern I want to use or attempt to draw them freehand. So if you're okay with using a photocopier that enlarges to make all the patterns, then this is a great book for that. I can't say I'd recommend any of the projects but I have a lot of embroidery books.

Very nice book, no projects that I left compelled to do.

This book has nice beginner-friendly instructions. It only has 12 projects, but includes LOTS of different patterns / designs, and the projects make suggestions about which designs you might substitute where. Many of the designs give detailed instructions about when to use which stitches, which I thought was helpful (since I don't have a lot of embroidery experience). The book comes with pages of transfers for the designs, but I didn't use them because I'm not sure if we're allowed to use these out of library books?
