The Orphan King is a fairly enjoyable story. It is based on the life of an orphan named Thomas, who sets out to find his destiny and fulfill a promise. Thomas’ determination and persistence towards his tasks make him a great hero. Although the story is well-paced in terms of action and suspense, it quickly lost my interest. The vagueness of Thomas’ quest made the events difficult to understand. Nonetheless, the story has been written effectively and with admirable sophistication. The dialogues use an excellent choice of words, making them more impactful. Furthermore, I was pleased by the role of minor characters and the messages that are conveyed by the story. Most importantly, I was led to keep reading on due to the brevity of the chapters. Overall, The Orphan King would be entertaining to those who have an interest in heroic fantasies.
