Another very good book in the Immortals After Dark series. When Elizabeth (Ellie) is possessed by Soroya, the Soul Reaper, Lothaire thinks she is his bride. But as time goes on, he begins to wonder if Elizabeth is his true bride. Lothaire has a lot of enemies who want nothing but to see him dead. He has to protect Elizabeth, while figuring out who is really his bride. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

How anyone could only give this novel 4 stars is beyond me. It is 1 of her best. Sexy, scary, funny, creepy and surprising. Oh yes, Leo is one fine vampire!

Book 12 in Immortals After Dark series, preceded by Dreams of a Dark Warrior and followed by MacRieve. Sexy story of Elizabeth Peirce, a mortal hillbilly with a stubborn streak, possesed by Saroya and Lothaire the Enemy of Old, a cunning evil vampire. I like the story but I was expecting much much more. I was curious about Lothaire and thought that down deep he is a really good guy, but I was wrong; he is an ass. I am surprised Ellie fell in love with him. In my eyes he didn't redeem himself enough.

Kresley cole is a fantastic novelist. I love the whole Immortals after Dark series and Lothaire is a fascinating character, horrible, hilarious, crazy but in the best ways. Cole creates characters you can fall in love with.

Enjoyable read, steamy romance with taming of Lothaire by Ellie.

The epitome of the guilty pleasure steamy vampire urban fantasy. Unlike Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake books, Cole's Immortals never try to be more than they are, and that makes them awesome.

In the beginning, lothaire had my sympathies, but as the book went on i started thinking he was an A-hole and if i was her i wouldnt mess with him.

I really enjoy reading Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark series and this book was probably my favorite so far. Having said that, Lothair is an extremely hard hero to like! Even with the happy ever after ending I still don't really care for him but he's very entertaining and somewhat sympathetic if for no other reason than that he is so clueless!

Sexual Content: Graphic sex scenes, including some that are a little violent.

Violence: Not so graphic, but there are definitely scenes where the "hero" main character kills people.

“Yes, peasants,” he repeated slowly. “The lowliest of the low among humans.” Then he enunciated, “Exceedingly backward and vulgar hillbillies.”
“Been called worse, mister.” At his raised brows, she exhaled impatiently. “Bootlegger, moonshiner, Elly May Clampett, mountain mama, redneck, backwoods Bessie, hick, trailer trash, yokel, and, more recently, death-row con.”
“No references to mining? I’m disappointed.”

“First of all, I'm not narcissistic." When she opened her lips to argue, he said, "I know Narkissos of Thespiae -- while we might share traits, I came first, so he's Lothairistic, not the other way around.”

"Because fate would not slight me so unspeakably. I'd seek a noon-day sun if I were paired with one such as you."
"Such as me," she repeated blandly. She'd been mocked too often over her lifetime to take offense. Her skin was as thick as armor.
"Yes, you. An ignorant, mortal Kmart checkout girl." He took the sharpest knife from his place setting, absently turning it between his left thumb and forefinger.
"Kmart? I should have been so lucky. Those jobs were hard to come by. I worked at my uncle's outfitter shop."
"Then you're even worse. You're an outfitter checkout girl with aspirations for Kmart."
"Still better than a demon."

have three i like for such a loner this mental quote is funny "He was furious. Though Lothaire didn't know for what. He just knew that His oralce, His woman, His... friend did not need to be drinking and laughing together without Him around."
From Ellie: "you play your offense, i play Defense. MY greatest asset is that I'm forever underestimated-- by peple like you. I'm the sucker punch you never saw coming."
From Nix: "You gave her your heart, and she gave you the bird. Nix sighed. Songs will be written about this."
