Conrad and Sally Walden are home alone with their pet fish. It is raining outside, and there is nothing to do. Until The Cat in the Hat walks in the front door. He introduces them to their imagination, and at first it's all fun and games, until things get out of hand and the kids wreak havoc in the home their mother has neatly prepared for an upcoming party. So The Cat must go, go, go, before their parents get back.

A few scant good moments & special effects, but on the whole the film is crass, rude, boring & badly designed--all the things Dr. Seuss's original book is not. Sean Hayes's dual performances are equally disappointing. With all that said, the film's depictions of unorthodox play and low-level humour appealed to our 3-year-old boy.

Sally: Um Cat, your tail!
Cat in the Hat: What about it? Oh, I see! I`ve chopped it off. Well that`s interesting because- SON OF A B- (BEEP)!
