I had great expectations for this book, especially as an attorney in her mid-thirties dealing with motherhood. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify with many of the women discussed in the book and there was no real resolution at the end. It was more of a disjointed set of partial stories about being one extreme or the other. Can you be a good mother and a good attorney (or journalist or teacher, etc.). Yes, but the book really plays up how incredibly hard it is for all of these bright women to figure that out, or leaves you feeling that its downright impossible. Some of them obviously missed the common sense train in life that would have been beneficial. So your life didn't turn out exactly as you planned? Here's a thought - neither did anyone elses. I think the premise of the book was well intentioned, but it didn't give me anything new or interesting, and it really didn't leave you feeling like it was possible to be successful in two different areas of your life at one time. My thought after I finished was so what?
