This novel follows the life of Charlene Durant in the early 1900's. It begins with her as a child in Nova Scotia and follows her experiences into adulthood where she moves to Boston and tries desperately to break into the male dominated newspaper scene as a reporter. This novel ties many of the big new stories of the day into Charlene's experience, such as the sinking of the Titanic, the Great Halifax explosion and of course the First World war. It was a simple story with a nice Canadian flavour.
