I could not sort out all the various characters and factions in this novel. I also didn't get a great sense of this world as created by Pattison, unlike many other post-apocalyptic novels. But it is an easy read. Also I felt there was a fair bit of gratuitous violence that didn't move the plot along.

"This marvellously realized novel of a post-apocalyptic world will scare the bejesus out of those of us watching the nuclear meltdowns in Japan. Pattison spares none of his considerable descriptive skills taking the reader into a world where a nuclear holocaust has ended life as we know it."
Margaret Cannon, Globe & Mail, April 1, 2011
