A thrilling underwater adventure based on true events. Master diver Frank McGuire leads a team, including his 17-year-old son, to explore the largest, most beautiful, and least accessible cave system on Earth. But when a tropical storm cuts off their only escape route, the team must work together to find their way through an uncharted and dangerous underwater labyrinth to make it out alive. With time running out, can they survive, or will they be trapped forever?

A stately pleasure-dome decree
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea"

Gripping movie - Kept me on edge. Liked the fact that there were no big-name actors. Also, no Hollywoodesque type predictability. Would have loved to see it on the big screen.
Did not like to see people fighting when pitted against a common foe. Movie makers need to break out of this habit.
Learned a thing or two about caves and caving.
One of the best movies I've seen in recent years. A true to life epic that is always long on tension and thankfully short on pretension. Great for the whole family. Highly recommended!
Should say loosely based on true events - if you watch the added feature, the storyline was mainly fabricated. Poor storyline and acting - shots of the caves were the best part.
It's not fair for me to rate this movie...it just wasn't my cup-o=tea...I didn't like the characters ...so I didn't care what happened to them...the cinematographic was really very good though.
This movie is as impressive as Avatar. Highly recommended.
If you are an adventurer, or at least an armchair adventurer, you will enjoy this film. Otherwise, the plot is not very credible and the body count is unnecessarily high. You also run into experienced climbers/divers that underestimated certain risks, and pay for them with their lives. Pretty cliche story line.
skipped a little bit at th end but otherwise good copy; and good movie!
I literally bursted out laughing at the horrible delivery of the horrible script in this awful awful movie. The cinematography could have been awe-inspiring but managed only to be claustrophobic. Also, James Cameron had very little to do with this movie. Good for a laugh at least.
awful. stupid storyline, no real caver would do those things (my husband is one). bad acting & the worst thing is it bored me sick. avoid this turkey
