The second original, touching, twisted, and most of all hilarious novel for children from David Walliams, number one bestseller and fastest growing children's author in the country - beautifully illustrated by Quentin Blake.

"Mr Stink stank. He also stunk. And if it was correct English to say he stinked, then he stinked as well..."

Chloe sees Mr Stink every day, but she's never spoken to him. Which isn't surprising, because he's a tramp, and he stinks.

But there's more to Mr Stink than meets the eye (or nose) and before she knows it, Chloe has an unusual new friend hiding in her garden shed.

As Chloe struggles to keep Mr Stink a secret, and her dad tries to hide a secret of his own, the stage is set for an epic family confrontation. But there's one other person with an extraordinary secret - Mr Stink himself...

This is a hilarious book about a young girl and an old tramp. The book begins when a young girl named Chloe decided to talk to a tramp, sparking a great story and an even better friendship. I would recommend this book ages 7-12, because it is great for kids in elementary school, but not in high school. It has a sad end, so be warned! Overall, it is one of David's best books yet.

It is a great book, really funny but a wee bit sad too.

CoverMr Stink is a tramp, and sleeps on a park bench. And he stinks. (Really bad!) A girl called Chloe met Mr Stink, and his dog, The Duchess, one day. Chloe had been wondering who he was, why he was a tramp, and what he used to be. So, the next day, she asked him. They were both quite shy, but they became nice, kind friends.

Read Mr Stink to find out what Chloe’s Mum & Dad think when they find out that Chloe has brought a tramp home to live in their garden shed!

I recommend this book for kids aged 8 – 12, who like hilarious stories. I rate it 9 out of 10.

My 9 year old son loved the book. He liked the London / UK setting and thought the story was good.

This is a great children's novel. Chloe is an unhappy little girl. She has no friends at school, is constantly compared unfavourably to her over-achieving younger sister by her ambitious mother, and finds comfort in food. She has seen the homeless man, known around town as Mr Stink, sitting in the park with his dog and has wondered about his story. When she approaches him, she discovers that he is a good listener and actually takes an interest in her. Chloe offers Mr Stink her family's shed as a place to stay, but how will her mother react when she finds out, and what effect will it have on her mother's political aspirations?
This book raises the question of judging someone by how they appear, and focusing on what is really important in one's life.
