Add a CommentAs always there's a lot of fun to be had in the new Teddy Ruzak novel as he stumbles and muses his way to truths that elude the slick and muscular go-getters of Knoxville, Tennessee. But this instalment in the series seems a little confused occasionally as chapters differ wildly in tone, ranging from near-farce to near-tragedy.Richard Yancey is perhaps trying to expand his range so as not to write essentially the same book every outing, but there are times here when individual chapters stand up well on their own but fail to cohere into a whole. Even so, it's a good read, and Teddy Ruzak remains one of the most lovable characters in crime fiction.
This is the first of this series I have read. It was pretty good except for one part that really bothered my sensibilities. I will probably read this author again.
