Stephen Hunter is a very good author when he wants to be. Unfortunately, he did not want to be very much in this much too long tale of the aging sniper and Cruz. This is a perfect example of less being more because there are dispicable characters readers don't care about and it detracts from the novel and gets innocents killed for no good reason. Perhaps to have twice as many die as the bad guys...who knows? Only the Hunter. He's better than this, but not in this tale. 6 of 10 stars
