Gorgeous pictures! Helped 2.5 yo fall asleep. He requested it everyday we had it out from the library. He began to remember all the words. Great simple story.

Owl is awake as the rest of the animal kingdom falls asleep. Owl flies overhead and watches each animal. We are given a description of how each animal sleeps: Some sleep standing up, some sleep with one eye open and others huddle close together. But when the sun comes up, it is time for owl to finally close his eyes and go to sleep.

The illustrations are made with painted textures and digital work. They are beautiful, soft, textured for interest, and fun to look at.

This is a very soothing story for the little ones at bedtime. Some of the pictures are funny and the older ones may spend time laughing instead of sleeping (such as the backside view of the horses and the snoring elephants). The pictures are not to be missed. The are unique, colorful and have many little details in the texture. I would have liked to have seen a different cover picture though. This one of Owl looks a bit creepy which does not set the tone of a sleepy read.

This story is very short for a small attention span. I recommend this story for the littlest ones ages 2-5.

BEAUTIFUL illustrations in this book! Very modern! It is a cute story and a gorgeous book. I don't know who liked it better, myself or my daughter...

Loved the art work in this book. My son enjoyed finding the owl on each page.

The illustrations are nothing short of exquisite, and I could honestly just look at this book for hours.
