I wanted to like the album, but the songs sounded the same.
This is such a fun album. I hadn't listened to it in many years since I only have it on cassette tape, haha.
Often cited as the first punk rock band, this album is a stunning example of 70's punk. New York was the birthplace of punk, but England dressed it up and slapped a label on it. The Ramones' songs are short and simple, with poppy chords and a clear melody. Their minimalism had a great influence on the entire punk scene. This album isn't filled with tuneless screaming, which, admittedly, is sometimes hard to listen to. Instead, the Ramones have songs that can be accepted in the mainstream, but edge far enough to still be "considered punk" Notable tracks include Sheena is a Punk Rocker, I Wanna Be Sedated, Blitzkrieg Bop, Teenage Lobotomy, and my personal favorite, Beat On The Brat. I encourage anyone looking to ease into the early punk/pop genre to listen to this.
