Myths & Legends retells the stories central to every culture that have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. Coverage extends from the well-known tales of the Ancient Greeks, which hold the key to the origin of such phrases as "Achille's heel," to the lesser-known, but richly colorful, myths of the Americas and the East.

Lavishly illustrated, this book gives very short synopses of myths making it an easy, interesting read for anyone unfamiliar with mythology. It's probably best suited for teenagers studying mythology but it's an easy way to introduce anyone to some myths you're not familiar with. There are a few good pages comparing heroes and gods from around the world. There are some "see also" footnotes at the botttom of the pages to help you find related topics which is helpful because the book is laid out rather haphazardly due to the amount of space dedicated to illustration.

This book shows classic myths and legends from every corner of the globe, but focuses on the classic myths of Greece,Rome,Egypt, and Eastern Asia. While there are much better books out there, this a good book for those starting to take an interest in mythology.
