There was ugly crying involved, that how good this book was. You fall in love with the characters while feeling what they feel. The movie was also a fantastic adaptation of the book.
Just found this movie. Very good! Requested the book. Can only be better.
I can't believe I am saying this, but the movie was much better
Touching and achingly perfect in its step-by-step delineation of a heartbroken widow, “PS, I Love You” shows the way love can completely rake us over the coals when it’s withdrawn, suddenly and seemingly forever. Even with the end clearly looming in sight from a loved one dying of disease or illness, grieving is a process that must be endured by the living who are forced to carry on—whether they like it or not. Ms. Ahearn’s writing leaves no emotional stone unturned as the protagonist Holly is put through the emotional wringer. Days of dull-eyed depression when she wants to do nothing more than sleep are interspersed with days when she is forced to maintain an aura of chipperness. Grief lifts for a moment only to descend in a cloud. In other words, she has good days and bad days and Ms. Ahearn takes us through them all. Rounding out the book are a supporting cast of family, friends, strangers, enemies, would-be love interests, sodden drunks, callous acquaintances, all penned with a sharp eye towards the complexities of human nature. This is a profound, moving tribute to love in all its phases and is both grand and humble in its dealings with the human heart.
I found that the topic was moving, but I was unimpressed at how it was executed. The prose was a mess - it almost sounded as if it hadn't been proof read. The story line wavered at times (to be blunt, it honestly skipped all over the place at times). If it had a little more continuity I would have loved the entire premise of this book.
If you liked this book, you would probably enjoy Firefly Lane. For the full review, head to my book blog at OboeChica Books (so long and thanks for all the fish).

I love the movie, but the book turned out to be much better. I thought 470 pages were crazy but this is a thrilling page turner. You will definitely laugh and wanna cry along with the book, if you like romantic stories this one is for you.
