Christy Brown was born in 1932 one of 22 children of a Dublin bricklayer. A victim of cerebral palsy, he could not control his speech or limbs apart from his left foot. He used his left foot to paint and to write his autobiography (originally published in 1954). We went on to publish a book of poetry, three novels, and another autobiography. Christy Brown died in 1981.
