In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-Earth still it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell, by chance, into the hands of the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. On his eleventy-first birthday, Bilbo disappeared, bequeathing to his young cousin, Frodo, the Ruling Ring, and a perilous quest: to journey across Middle-Earth, deep into the shadow of the Dark Lord and destroy the Ring by casting it into the Cracks of Doom.

I liked this Sci-Fi DVD. It is not appropriate for children. There is a lot of violence. I like the whole series. I like the whole series for "The Hobbit" and "The Lord Of The Rings". I recommend watching "The Hobbit" first.

The Fellowship Of The Ring is a beautiful, magical, and mesmerizing film based on the book by famous author J.R.R. Tolkien. It is the first of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and follows the story of a hobbit named Frodo through his journey to destroy the powerful One Ring. Everything about this movie is flawless, including the scenery, the costumes, the characters, and the plot. This film has done an amazing job at truly bringing the characters and story to life. Although it is kind of long, it is incredibly entertaining and captivating so you definitely won’t get bored or tired. Rating 4/5 stars.

"The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth."

As far as I'm concerned, this film is near perfect. Peter Jackson's vision for the trilogy is unprecedented and the casting was spot-on. (Even if I'm still pouting over the absence of Tom Bombadil.)

I'd forgotten just how much I loved these movies (and the books). The good: Arwen is portrayed here as more than just a minor character thrown in for a love story. The action is believable and rivetingly intense, yet true to the book. Don't even get me started on the amazing soundtrack! Definitely true to the book overall. The bad: There are some rather gory parts, which might scare younger ones, and some suspenseful parts also. One other thing that ALWAYS makes me laugh is Frodo's desperate "Nooooo!" when Gandalf, well, you know what. I won't spoil it. That line totally reminds me of Luke Skywalker when Vader informs him that he is Luke's father. Overly melodramatic! However, this movie is still amazing, and one of my favorites. You have to see it!

Good, not very good for kids younger than 10. You have to watch the next movie in line to watch the rest of the story.

A visually stunning film. Lots of action sequences, but little in the way of character development.

GALADRIEL: Rumour grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear and the ring of power perceived its time had now come. It abandoned Gollum. But something happened then the ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins of the Shire. For the times will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all...

GALADRIEL'S INTRO: But the hearts of men are easily corrupted. And the ring of power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur to his death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend, legend became myth and for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer.
