My lengthier comment didn't post so here's the short version:

I enjoy this book because the projects are simple enough to do without complicated or specialty tools, but are complex enough for a kid to feel like they've done something. It's mostly scissors and glue, paint, and simple sewing.

That the bulk of the projects can be made with easy to find materials is helpful, so no special shopping trips are needed for those who already have some crafty materials around the house.

Some projects are specifically 'doggy' like the collar cover, so it does feel like this is a book for dog people, and not just dog-themed crafts.
