I absolutely loved this collection of short essays and stories! Its so rare and also so necessary to have voices that reflect the experiences of youth. Marina's voice as a writer is unique; it shines throughout the collection.

It's a decent collection of short stories and essays. It reads very much like a college student's work, which isn't a bad thing at all, but it's no masterpiece. Honestly, I think it got the buzz it did not because of the author's ability…

She was an amazing writer. I only enjoyed her first poem "Opposite of Loneliness" the rest was alright but didn't really interest me.

I wanted to dislike this book. When young people die, we tend to mourn their lost potential. But all the lost potential in the world does not suddenly transform a young college student into a great writer. This book is a collection of…

This book is so beautifully written. The short stories were entertaining and thought provoking. The book is split into two with fictional and nonfiction stories. I wasn't expecting the nonfiction to be so entertaining but it was based on…

The book itself didn't really work for me but she was a terrific writer. I would have loved to read the first story as a book. What a talent she was.

I was blown away by the vastness and quality of the writing left behind by Marina Keegan. The knowledge that she passed away at 22, before fully pursuing her dreams, is devastating. From her writing you can tell that she was a firecracker…

This is one book I was hooked on after reading the introduction by Anne Fadiman. "If you wanted a smooth ride, Marina wasn't your vehicle," promised Anne and Marina did indeed deliver on this promise. I'm so glad that Marina Keegan left…

Over all I enjoyed the book. I don't usually read short stories. And some of the stories were better than others but she was a good writer. And if she hadn't have died so young she probably would have become a great writer.

I liked some of the stories more than others, but I didn’t really love any of them. Then again, I'm not generally a huge short-story lover either.

The knowledge that Marina Keegan had died tragically in a car accident casts a long shadow over this collection of essays and short stories. I couldn't help wondering how Marina might have polished her work if she had had the chance to…

"Life changes fast. Life changes in an instant." So wrote Joan Didion after her husband suddenly died of a heart attack over dinner though the sentiment applies almost universally. It certainly does for Marina Keegan: magna cum laude…

Marina had so much insight for one so young, and even though her life was short her impact is not. This book of fiction and nonfiction resonates with humor, angst and hope for the world.

For those who don't know the background, Keegan died in a car accident when she was 23. This book was published posthumously. The first half is fiction and the second half is non-fiction. You can't help but notice how many of the stories…

I requested Ottawa Public Library to order this book and couldn't place hold on it until it was ordered, by that time 8 people had already placed a hold on it. Wasn't surprised, it's an amazing story of a brilliant girl. Heartbreaking.

It's really a heartbreaking story behind all the short stories and essays. She has a brilliant mind and it's amazing that we get a chance to read through some of her works.
