Poorly written with X-rated porn and violence combined with childish dialog. Seriously need and editor to cull, will appeal to pubescent boys who like Lara Croft.

Those in Peril. --- by --- Wilbur Smith. Piracy. Shipjacking on the high seas. Hostages. Sex. Violence. Torture. Deceit. What more could one ask for an action novel. Throw in a few Arab Moslem terrorist and you’ve got the perfect…

This is the first novel I have read by the author and it is a decent airplane read. The characterizations and love story seem slapped together. The plot moves at a generally fast pace. Graphic description of sex and violence in the…

Smith seems to hve acquired a taste fot graphic descriptions of the rape of young girls. This book is not worth the read. Hector Cross, the cartoon "hero", kills lots of bad guys, lots of good guys die, and he meets his charming wife…

For the majority of the commenters (who were disappointed and presumably surprised that it was an esteemed "Wilbur Smith" tome they were reading and not another Jack Higgins rag), I have more bad news for you....... His newest (2013)…

Smith has written a lot of very good books, but this is not one of them. The story is predictible, the characters are shallow and the romantic storyline is out of a Harlequin Romance novel. In conclusion it appers to be the work of a…

This is my fifth or sixth read of a Wilbur Smith novel since I 'discovered' him about three years ago. Love his knowledge and history of all parts of Africa. Great read!

Mix together the plots of Clive Cussler, Jack Higgins, Steve Berry, James Rollins and to that add two weeks worth of cheese inventory from Pizza Hut and you've got Those In Peril. The characters are so unbelievably superhuman that I was…

It was a good story line and great characters - as always with Wilbur Smith. But.. again, as always with Mr. Smith, too much detail. Or maybe I just wasn't in the mood. During the last 50 pages or so, I just wanted it to end already for…

Not a bad book by any stretch but you get the feeling Wilbur Smith is writing by formula these days. Nothing really surprising here it comes along at a quick enough pace, standard mix of sex and violence, but the ending I find really a…
