This 15-episode 465-minute drama turns out a well crafted, nicely scripted , engaging and gripping thriller.
Charles Dickens himself would be surprised and pleased to view this adaptation.

"Shake me up..Judy" amazing acting, scenery and a good drama. Took me back to Victorian London, slums, aristocrats. A real tour de force of actors. Won't give away the story, but have some tissues handy.

Great acting. Humorous at times. There’s a lot of characters, but they’re all easy to keep straight. The makers of the show definitely made an effort at making it fast paced and exciting, even from the very first scene.

A PBS/BBC-all-star cast shine in this adaptation of the Dickens mystery novel. A lush production that offers a completely engrossing viewing experience: tragedy, folly, humor, and romance. You'll want more when it's over: try "Our…

Huge mistake to try and compress a bulky novel into 8 hours without deeper cuts. Can’t be done. Result: too many characters come off as cardboard and situations as contrived.

I must disagree with Charles Dance`s belief that his character is a repressed homosexual. Turkenhorn is obviously a repressed heterosexual, as his treatment of Lady Dedlock is plainly emotional/psychological rape. His treatment of others…

"John Jarndyce is an unwilling party in Jarndyce and Jarndyce, guardian of Richard, Ada, and Esther, and owner of Bleak House. Vladimir Nabokov called him "one of the best and kindest human beings ever described in a novel"."

Jan 15 2016, Finally got around to watching this and enjoyed it. Might watch it again one day on a snowy weekend. I didn't catch on that Lady Dedlock was Scully until about 1/2 way through. Then I was floored, and fascinated!

Really enjoyed this story. Havent read the bookbut maybe will someday. Only reason I took half a star off was the filming was a bit dark &, at times, too close to see the surroundings which I felt dampered the feeling of how things were in…

This adaptation is amazing. Gillian Anderson is one of those amazing actresses who is believable as an American detective, a 19th centurty artistocrat, or a Northern Irish detective. Also really enjoyed Anna Maxwell Martin and have been…

As is usual for them, the BBC has produced an exciting and beautifully-acted version of Dickens' writing. They've updated the plot-line slightly, by keeping the story moving more quickly than it does in the book, but the quirky, odd-ball…

“Bleak House”2 it's my prejudice – English period pieces = boring, boring, but...nope also boring. To be fair, I didn't finish it, so maybe they were saving the catchy stuff for late, but,,,,

One of the best dvds I have watched. The whole series was brilliant from start to finish and the characters were so well portrayed, especially the fascinatingly vile Mr. Smallweed.
